Flight From Manthali To Lukla
This route is relevant during the peak trekking season. The airport in Manthali is around 4-5 hours away from Kathmandu. We wake up early and head toward the Manthali airport in a shared tourist vehicle.
We continue to trek along the banks of the Dudhkoshi river, passing the glorious river over the suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. Upon entering the Sagarmatha National Park, you witness the breathtaking views along the steep elevated trails. Namche Bazar is renowned as the gateway to the majestic mount Everest. Namche Bazar houses several quality restaurants, lodges, shops, money exchange, bakeries, and also internet cafes.
We will dedicate day 4 to acclimatization. You get to witness the breathtaking views of the Himalayas along with the glorious sunrise and sunset over the panorama of the Khumbu peaks.
We continue the trek along the glacial waters of Dudhkoshi with awe-inspiring views of the majestic mountains. Upon reaching Tengboche, you will witness a local monastery with incredible ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot-tall sculpture of lord buddha, musical instruments, and robes of the Lamas.
The most exciting part is that we get to witness a ceremony at the monastery in the morning and also after 3 pm in the afternoon. From here the trail descends towards Debuche, crossing another suspension bridge over Ijma Khola, then we finally ascend towards Pangboche village.
The uphill trek continues as we move toward the delightful Sherpa village of Dingboche along with the mesmerizing views of Lhotse, the island peak, and Ama Dablam. We pace ourselves so the altitude does not affect us.
On this day, we enjoy another day of acclimatization. We take a trip to Chhukung valley via the Imja Khola valley and witness the awe-inspiring views of the astounding mountains and the Lhotse’s massive south wall. Then we finally return back to Dingboche in the evening.
On Day 8, we continue trekking along the lateral moraine of the renowned Khumbu Glacier, crossing stone memorials of the climbers who passed away on the nearby summits. We head toward Lobuche at an altitude of 4910m/ 16018 ft. You will witness a few huts at the bottom of the massive Lobuche peak.
This is going to be both a special and a difficult day as we walk along the Khumbu Glacier at 5365/ 17601 ft. This is the closest you can get to the majestic mount Everest without any trekking equipment. We witness the spectacular views of the Khumbu Icefall from the base camp. Later in the night, we return back to Gorak Shep.
This is yet another rewarding day of our trek. We spent most of the morning hiking up to the Kala Patthar. This will be a challenging walk but you get to witness the spectacular panoramic mountain views.
After witnessing the awe-inspiring views of the majestic mountains, we descend to Gorakshep, which is a tiny hamlet at an altitude of 5180 meters. Then we finally trek towards the Pangboche village.
Now, from Pangboche, leaving the splendid mountains behind we descend through the Tengboche monastery at an altitude of 3860m/12664ft. We continue the trek to the town of Namche Bazar at an altitude of 3441m/ 11289 ft. We finally arrive back at Namche Bazar during the afternoon.
We finally return back to Lukla, where we started our trip. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the challenging yet most rewarding Everest Base Camp Luxury trek. You will also get a chance to explore this region entirely.
On this day we return back to Kathmandu, either by taking a flight to Manthali or a direct flight back to Kathmandu.
